The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management activities within our procurement team.
The Senior Buyer drives all activities around Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Controls. This position also holds the responsibility for the creation of cost estimates and forecasts, negotiating cost-effective contracts with key suppliers and supporting the Purchasing activities of Motek.
To ensure success as a Senior Buyer the job holder should demonstrate sound knowledge of negotiation skills and experience in sourcing mechanical and/or Electronic Parts.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing and Contracting: Develop Motek sourcing strategies, select suppliers, and implement negotiated pricing and other conditions in Frame contracts for assigned commodities/work packages, ensuring optimal value and quality from suppliers. Negotiate Supplier Quality Agreements, General Terms Agreements, and other contractual terms to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
Purchase Order Management: Support the creation and management of purchase orders. Ensures parts are available for smooth production, enabling growth and customer satisfaction.
Supplier Quality Assurance:, Approve and qualify suppliers of the assigned commodities/work packages. Conduct yearly supplier evaluations to assess performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives within assigned commodities/work packages. Liaison between Procurement, Production, and Engineering for the timely resolution of suppliers' non-conformances and the avoidance of supply chain disruptions.
Obsolescence Management: Proactively manage obsolescence and sourcing challenges for end-of-life parts within assigned commodities/work packages to minimize disruptions to production.
Procurement Program Management: Manage supplier Development Programs in close collaboration with the Engineering Team within the assigned commodities/work packages. Support Engineering and Production Teams in any design-to-cost initiative within the assigned commodities/work packages.
Global Procurement Governance and Strategy: Support the Global Head of Procurement to develop and implement the Global procurement strategy and processes, contributing insights and recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with international regulations and internal processes, maintaining adherence to international ethical standards in all procurement activities. Cultivate and maintain cooperative relationships with suppliers.
ERP: Take ownership as Key User of the ERP system: Create and maintain an optimal setup of procurement and master data in the ERP.
Your Profile
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Economics/Administration with experience in the technical industry, and/or Engineering discipline, or a specialized procurement education, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in global procurement within complex industrial industries such as Medical Devices, Aviation, or Automotive.
Ethical Leadership: Demonstrated strong ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in an international environment, with a passion for fostering positive relationships across diverse cultures.
Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English (spoken and written), and spoken and written Dutch (preferred).
Project Management: Proficiency in project management principles and experience managing procurement projects within a global context (is a plus).
Supply Chain Understanding: Good understanding of the impact and role of procurement on the overall supply chain, with the ability to collaborate effectively with finance, production, and other stakeholders.
Personal Attributes: Flexible, self-motivated, honest, reliable, proactive, and optimistic attitude towards work, with a strong commitment to driving results.
Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and experience with ERP systems (Oracle experience is a plus). Experience conducting supplier audits is desirable.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% as required for supplier visits and other business-related activities.
